Perfect Sunday for Mental Doodlings

The sun was up and shining when I peered thru the blinds. Perfect weather for a September Sunday. I'll have the lawn mowed, that's for sure.

And get some stain off the Subie. It's used enough for me to do things to it.

The Focus is, well, a brand new machine when bought, so it deserved dealer attention every 3K miles. Why? I'd like to keep the Focus for a long time. I like its design, its simplicity and its ride. And they just don't make this look anymore...

Indiana Downtown has its Annual Arts Growth Festival. I saw a similar festival on the news happening in New Germany (Cambria Co) and wondering if that took some vendors off Indiana's list. Will I go? Dunno... and I have my reasons... The kids might, though, if Amin gets off the games..

Subie, Dresser and SC...

When Wasil returned from his football practice, Pah and I went out to hunt for the elusive dresser. Didn't have to go far, though, to find it. Goodwill had two for identical prices; $29.99, so I paid for the bigger (and better, actually) one. WE thought it was too big for the Subie, so we painstakingly took the van to fetch it. When we got home, it was evident that the Subie was big enough, so the three of us -- Wasil, Pah and me -- took the task of switching the furniture into Subie.

Look! IT fits!!!Wasil was too tired to co-pilot to SC, so Luqman got to come with me instead. WE left for Sc at about 2:15 and reached SC at 4:15 pm. The PSU-YSU game was well underway, proven by the lack of vehicles on the road. Here's Luq relaxing at Amin's lofty apt...

It was a good trip for Subie to show its mettle -- and it didn't disappoint. Good buy!

First '06 Yard Sale Visit

Today, I woke up and remembered that I needed to get Amin a dresser. So I went out to search for one. At the yard sales...

The first house I stopped by, I was hooked...

At the next yard sale, I bought the sof toys. I also saw some paintings for sale. I think the paintings were originals, done by the seller...

More home-based paintings for sale...

I bought 19 books for $3.35, and five soft toys for $5.00... but no dresser..

The books found a new home, and new young readers...Here's Hamzah, mega reader in the making...

Some of the nineteen...

Same books, closed-up...

Hana curling up to Mummy Rabbit and a yard sale book...

Interesting Finds and Chanced Meetings

OK, so I am still gung-ho about my Malaysian trip. Who wouldn't be... (thank you, amin and aishah!)
The last person I talked to about it was at Salem Halal. A guy stopped for a gyro, and parked his BMW 900 bike on the kerb before entering the store caught my eye. He came back with the sandwich and asked if the chair next to me was taken. So I took the chance to ask him about the bike. He said it was a '74. That broke the ice, and we talked about bikes. Told him I had a '91 C70 Honda back home. We talked about faraway places -- he was an anthro major just out of a marketing job. Clean shaven young man by the name of David Brown. Told him where I worked, just so that he could, if he needed, find me again. Which brings me to the main theme of this entry...

Who else I met, what else I found, in Malaysia...

Met these people.. just see their cards to know more..

Found a pic from my MRSM teaching days. This was from, and of, a future English professor, Dr. Rashidi (right of me), when he was just 16. I'm the one with the 007 attache. Good to know he made it good...
The red 1986 Honda Civic in the background? That was my KT...

Now this 1977 Opel Kadett was bought and given to me by my father-in-law. He was so generous during our earliest homemaking days. He passed away a year before retirement. Memories of him remain with me, even after 20 long years...

Subaru Baru

Finally, I got it. Here are the pics...

Muhsin peering from behind Subie at lot

One-eyed Muhsin behind Subie at lot...

Muhsin checking his one eye...

Muhsin trying to cure his one eye, beside Subie's last name...

Muhsin pretending to be hit by stationary Subie at lot

Super Muhsin stopping stationary Subie from going anywhere...

Muhsin making sure Subie's behind smells nice...

Subie goes home...so Pah took more pics, on the parking lot...

Super slim me beside Subie...

Looking at the engine...

4 cyl boxer, 2.5 litre...

Me and Muhsin beside Subie at parking lot

Me showing my bontot to Subie's...

Me dragging Muhsin away from Subie. Notice how hard he struggles...

Subie's built-in antennae on 3rd quarter window.. Neat, huh!

Subie's dash; the odo tells it all at 111,855 miles...

The Team to Watch in 2007

Wasil's football team pic finally arrived. The team looked really good, but they need a win to match. 6-16 and 6-24; the next game should be in the win column for a change. They have good coaches. That was how they were unbeaten last year.

Rainy Week

It's been one rainy week. I was soaked Tuesday -- morning and afternoon. And night, too. Yesterday, I wasn't so wet, just because HBC's parking was situated behind the complex, twenty skips to the door. But today, the sun shone amidst some morning showers and grey skies, and it looked like it's gonna be a great day.

I am looking forward to today's classes. The morning ones are no bother, really; pleasant and hard-working people trying to get ahead. Lunch at Salem's will be a real good deal, and if I could park, the Masjid will be next.
And if my DTC's class, which begins at 5:30, pans out like last week, I'll be looking at an early weekend by 8:35 tonight. That would be the top of the mountain for me...

Evening Update:
My best class today had to be the ENG100DT60 at the DTC. Cool people who went ahead with their work. I was sleepy at five. But not after the class began. We did solid work upto the end. Tsutsui registered vertical down from Lisa's 101. He had better buck up or he'll vertical down to 089... I saw him reading a Japanese novel. What was that about?

It rained some of the afternoon and most of the evening, nulling my prediction for a cheery day. My ride home through 380 /286 was also rainy and foggy, mostly.

Tomorrow, Friday, should be fine..

Out of Nowhere

Last week, Pah received an email, a one-liner, asking for our fon number. It seemed rather urgent. And it's from an old, long lost friend, ex-iup -- Dr Suzana. Sounds like she's coming here. The whole family. Today, the hubby, Nor Dean, replied the email, He said, among other things, that they will be here soon, but that Suzana will elaborate. We have to wait until she writes or call, i guess, to find out what's up.

There's a lesson here, somewhere.

Wednesday the 13th

It's six more days to my bday -- I will be over the speed limit, at 46... haha.

Awesome PSSA Scores!!

Today, Sept 12th, is the best day of the school year so far for Wasil and Luqman. They received their PSSA scores on the tests that they took last year. Both made Advanced in both Maths and Reading! While Wasil's report was expected, Luqman's was exceptional. He made Advanced on both counts, and I am so happy for him! Mrs. Novels worked him hard last year, and this was the result of that dedication. Thank you, Mrs. Novels! I hope you saw Luqman's scores..

Wasil's, too...

Both kids will get a special treat at LJS this Sunday. I hope they keep up the hard work...
